First, new transmissions only come in new vehicles. Even if you purchase it from a dealer or any other source, you are still getting a re-manufactured transmission. A rebuilt, refurbished, reconditioned or overhauled transmission is where yours is removed, disassembled and inspected, worn or damaged parts are replaced and then reassembled to factory specifications, along with new gaskets, seals, clutches and bands.
A repaired transmission is one that has only one or two specific components replaced. Without rebuilding the whole transmission. To me this is a risky way to fix something hard to get to (without the right tools or equipment). Do you like to waste your money? If so, this is your best option.
A re-manufactured transmission is the same as a rebuild, but it is done in a factory setting. And then there is always the option to go with a used transmission. This is one that came out of a car or truck that was totaled in a car accident. The car was damaged beyond reasonable repairs, but the transmission still has a lot of life left in it.
